My soul (and palate) is a flavorful mix of Mediterranean traditions. I was born and raised in Northwestern Italy, in the same, small city where my dad grew up, a place where polenta, cupetti and lügàniga are found. All my mom’s family is from Sicily and their story starts at the end of the 1800’s, with vine grafting at the shadow of ‘Idda’ (Etna, the Volcano is a ‘she’). From there, they spread to Libya and ended back in Italy, and in Australia, UK, and South America. The international route continues, with me today, in the amazing country of USA.
My name’s Sara, I live in Houston, Texas, and I just love the international flair and warmth of this great, welcoming city. Once here, and 5000 miles away from my mom-perfectly-prepared meals, I had to roll up my sleeves and get myself to the burners. It turns out to be that I whipped up a lot from observing my mom and nan’s kneading and sautéing. My table goes from Risotto alla Milanese to Maghreb Couscous, from Catanese Pasta alla Norma to Tex-Mex Fajitas.
I love food, photography and good stories. Pasta&Co. will be my way of giving tribute to the people I met and the traditions I love – and one for all, to my (100-year old!!) Grandma Nonna Nella and my Mom Lucia; the best women in my life, and to my best friend, love of my life, and husband, Giorgio, who every night sits at my table, and enjoys my passion and delight mixed in these dishes.

What a great blog. We have a “fancy” deli / take out here in Seattle called “Pasta & Co.” They sell homemade pasta, sauces, deli type salads and actually the same owners as Beechers cheese. Anyway, thank you for visiting my blog today and I keep my eye out for your posts! :)
